PLEASE READ THIS PRIVACY POLICY CAREFULLY. Konnected Technologies Incorporated (“KTI,” “We,” or “Us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information through konnectedtech.com (the “Site”), the KTI platform, and the KTI API (together with the Site, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. This Privacy Policy is part of our Terms and Conditions.
Key to Your City® is offered through our licensed partner, B-Konnected, LLC, and runs on KTI. B-Konnected, LLC’s privacy policy also applies to that check-in and to B-Konnected, LLC’s professional services.
1. Information we collect
“Personally Identifiable Information” means information that can reasonably be used, on its own or with other information, to identify, contact, or locate a single person.
From website visitors.
- Information you send us, such as your name, organization, role, email address, phone number, and message, when you email us, fill out a form, or book a call through our scheduling tool.
- Usage data, such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and how you found the Site, collected through cookies and similar tools.
- The Quick answers help bot runs in your browser. It does not save, send, or store what you type.
From customers. Account information, such as names, work email addresses, and roles of the staff who use the platform, and billing contacts. If you pay by card, your card information is collected and stored by our third-party payment processor, not on KTI’s servers.
From people who take an evaluation. Taking an evaluation is voluntary. By choosing to answer, you agree that we may use your answers, including answers about health, as described in this Privacy Policy. Your answers to evaluation questions about the five social determinants of health, such as income and bills, health care, community, housing and neighborhood, and education. To connect answers to the right site, an evaluation may ask for location information, such as a ZIP code, neighborhood, or address. We may also collect the language you chose and the date and time you answered. If an evaluation asks for contact information, it will tell you why.
Through the KTI API. Evaluation answers and related information that customers send from their own systems.
Communications. Emails and messages between you and KTI may be kept for record-keeping and quality.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Services: scoring answers, giving each site a KTI Social Impact Seal, sending alerts to customer staff, and preparing dashboards and reports.
- To communicate: about your account, billing, support, and updates, and to answer questions you send us.
- To improve: to analyze trends and improve the Services and the Site.
- For security: to protect the Services, our customers, and the people they serve.
- For marketing: to send information you asked for or agreed to receive. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails or by emailing us with the subject line “Unsubscribe.”
- To run our business: including accounting, taxes, and legal requirements, and for other reasonable business purposes that do not require your consent under the law.
3. How evaluation answers are handled
- Confidential. Answers are kept confidential, and results are reported to customers by site, not by person.
- Not for advertising. We do not share evaluation answers with advertisers.
- Never sold in identifiable form. We never sell personal information in a form that identifies a person.
- De-identified and combined information. We may create information that has been de-identified and combined so it cannot reasonably be used to identify a person. We use it to improve KTI, for research, reports, and comparisons, and for data licensing to qualifying nonprofit, government, and public benefit organizations. Customer agreements may further limit this use, and when they do, we follow them.
4. When we share information
We share information only in these cases:
- With the customer who invited you. The customer sees results for its own sites, reported by site.
- With service providers who help us run the Services, such as cloud hosting, database, email, scheduling, customer relationship, analytics, and payment providers. They may use the information only to do work for us and are bound by confidentiality.
- With B-Konnected, LLC, our licensed partner, when it delivers professional services or Key to Your City® with KTI.
- For website advertising and analytics. We may use advertising and analytics tools on the Site, which can use cookies and website usage data. To opt out of future use of your information for these tools, email founder@konnectedtech.com with the subject line “Opt Out.” We cannot retrieve information that was already used.
- For legal reasons, when required by law, court order, or government request, or when we believe disclosure is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of KTI, our customers, or others.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, under the same privacy protections.
5. Data we handle for customers
When we process information on behalf of a customer, we follow that customer’s signed agreement with us, including any limits on who owns the data and how it may be used. Customers who are subject to health, education, or other special privacy laws must tell us before sending that kind of information, so we can put the right agreement in place first.
6. How we protect information
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, change, or destruction. Platform access is limited by role, and each API customer receives its own private key. Our security practices are guided by a cybersecurity leader on our board. No method of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Email may not be secure, so please take care with what you send us by email.
7. How long we keep information
We keep information as long as needed for the purposes it was collected, including to meet legal obligations and resolve disputes, or as a customer’s signed agreement requires. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete it or de-identify it. We may keep de-identified or combined information longer.
8. Your choices and rights
You may:
- Ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information;
- Opt out of marketing emails;
- Opt out of any future sharing of your information for advertising, and of any sale or transfer of your information where state law gives you that right; and
- Ask us to limit certain uses of your information where appropriate.
To make a request, email founder@konnectedtech.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you took an evaluation through a customer, you may also contact that customer. Because evaluations are designed to be confidential, we may not be able to find answers that are not connected to your name, and de-identified information cannot be removed.
We will respond within forty-five (45) days, or tell you if we need more time as the law allows. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our response with the subject line “Privacy appeal,” and we will review the decision and respond in writing. If you are not satisfied with our answer to your appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
9. Children
The Site is not directed to children under thirteen (13), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through the Site. When a customer, such as a school, uses KTI with young people, that customer is responsible for any required consents, and our signed agreement with the customer governs. If you believe a child under thirteen (13) has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Cookies
The Site may use cookies to make it work, remember your choices, and understand how visitors use it. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, but some parts of the Site may not work as well.
11. Other websites
The Site links to other websites, including our scheduling tool, social media pages, and bkonnected.org. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the new version on the Site and update the date above. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept it.
