Inspect it. Report it. Done before you leave.
New federal inspection rules start February 1, 2027.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development sets the rules for voucher inspections. Here is what changes.
New national standards
Voucher homes must be inspected to the National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate, replacing Housing Quality Standards.
Strict repair deadlines
Life-threatening problems fixed in 24 hours. Severe and moderate problems fixed in 30 days.
Pass or fail
Every home must pass before move in, and again at least every 2 years.
No federal app
The department stopped building its own inspection app. Agencies can use a commercial tool but stay responsible for the results.
InnoSpec™ covers Housing Quality Standards today, with the new national standards rolling out next. Read the federal notice

What you get.
Faster move ins
A unit cannot be leased until it passes. Faster reports mean families move in and owners get paid sooner.
Ready for audits
Every item, date, and inspector on record for federal quality control reviews.
More inspections, same staff
About 4 hours back for every 8 inspections.
Clean data
Sort, count, and export results instead of digging through files.

The yearly inspection estimate assumes each voucher home is inspected at least every 2 years.
